Annualized Return
The daily strategy returns, compounded and scaled to a one-year figure.
Formula
Annual return = (1 + mean daily return)^252 − 1
Interpretation
Makes strategies tested over different windows comparable by expressing them on the same one-year basis.
What good looks like
Meaningfully above the buy-and-hold return shown alongside it for the same ticker and window.
What bad looks like
Below the buy-and-hold return, or negative — meaning the signal would have been worse than doing nothing.
Typical range
Highly ticker- and period-dependent; always read next to buy-and-hold and volatility, never in isolation.
How OmniSignal uses it
Shown next to buy-and-hold specifically so a good-looking return that's just "the stock went up" isn't mistaken for signal skill.
